Special Offer: FREE Metabones Canon EF Lens Adapter w/ Sony FS7 Camera

I’m very excited to announce that I’m now able to offer you a free Metabones brand Canon EF lens to Sony E mount adapter with the purchase of the new Sony FS7 camera. This is a $300 value. The adapter provides full electronic communication between the Canon lenses and the Sony E-mount body of the camera. This retains image stabilization and electronic iris control. And it’s all yours for free with the new FS7.

I’ve been offering this promotion for quite a while on the FS100 and FS700 cameras, and it’s still continuing on those as well. The FS7 is Sony’s very highly anticipated addition to the CineAlta family. Using the same sensor as the F5, the FS7 offers S-Log3 color and gamma, 180fps internal recording, 4K internal recording in 10-bit, 4:2:2, I-Frame XAVC, and options for 12-bit RAW output and ProRes recording. The native E-mount of the camera makes it compatible with a wide range of Sony lenses, including their new 28-135mm f/4 budget cine-servo. The other advantage of the E-mount is how easy it is to adapt to PL, EF, F, or virtually any lens mount you can think of. The Metabones EF mount adapter is yours free when you purchase with me, Professional Video. Post by Eric C. Petrie

Discounted: We’ve Cut the Price on the Sony FS700

The NEX-FS700 is an amazing camera. It was introduced about 2 years ago now and its very fair to day that, when it was introduced, it was ahead of its time. Sony had such a great concept when they debuted that camera. Their goal was to take the continuos upgradable path that the F5 & F55 had and make a lower cost, more streamline version. When it debuted the FS700 offered a newly designed Super35mm CMOS sensor, 1080p AVCHD, S-Log2, and internal 240fps full res recording. These were unheard of features for a camera at $8,000. But Sony new that those features wouldn’t cut it for long. They partnered with Convergent Design on the Odyssey 7Q to unlock the full 4K RAW potential the camera was designed for.

With the announcement of the new FS7 we’re excited to also announce that we’re cutting the price of the FS700 to $5,999. And we’re continuing to include a free EF Canon lens adapter with the camera. This makes it one of the best values on the market. No other professional camera offers what this camera does for under $6k. And thanks to the Odyssey 7Q you can expand your FS700 to be a 4K 12-bit RAW, 4K ProRes, 2K 240fps acquisition beast for under $8,500. The combination of Sony’s S-Log2 and 12-bit RAW give you unparalleled color and chroma range.

We have the FS700 and the Odyssey 7Q in-stock today. Schedule your evaluation. Take the whole rig out and try it. The best way to know if its the right set-up for you is to get your hands on the gear and shoot.

Hot Sale: Sony FS100 Now Under $2,500

We’re always trying to offer the greatest bang for the buck possible. This deal fits right in that category. You can now pick up the Sony FS100 Super35mm cinema camera for only $2,499. Thats an extremely good value. The FS100 offers a very high quality 1080p CMOS sensor designed specifically for video production, not a still photo sensor forced to do video. In fact, this was the same sensor used in Sony’s F3. The nature of the sensor has nearly eliminated rolling shutter, moire, and aliasing effects. The camera can record internal 1080/60p slow motion and it can output 4:2:2 via the HDMI to an affordable external recorder like an Atomos Ninja, thus offering up-to 220mbps ProRes recording. PLUS you still get a free Metabones EF adapter with the purchase so all of your Canon lenses will be fully functional. Post by Eric C. Petrie

Canon Debuts 17-120mm T3 Cinema Zoom Lens with ENG Powered Motor

Canon has just announced their first hybrid cinema/ENG lens. This is a 7x T2.95 17-120mm lens that comes in ether a Canon EF mount or a PL cine mount. The lens is designed to cover the large sensor area of todays modern digital cinema cameras. It is designed to be a precision film-sytle cinema lens. The barrels on the lens are fully geared and offer the same degree of creative control that someone would expect from a cine lens. The feature that sets this lens apart from other cine zooms is the included ENG hand grip/servo motor system. This provides all of the same high speed flexibility and versatility as a traditional broadcast ENG lens. It truly is two lenses in one. Of course this kind of quality-meets-versitility performance doesn’t come cheap. It is currently selling for $31,350. One of the really great features of the lens is the relatively light wight design. Weighing in at only 6 pounds it would be an excellent companion to an Arri Amira or a RED Epic in a highly versatile yet compact cinema rig. Of course is would also lens itself to be a perfect zoom solution for a Canon C500 or C300 cinema camera. The lens is expected to start shipping around the middle of the summer.  Post by Eric C.
